Still, at least Laura won it last year. I presume the judges must have been running a fever on that occasion.
Running a fever! Good one, ethereal. It's like a car crash, isn't it? You don't want to look, but you do, just to see how bad it is. I have seen comments on twitter asking why Polly gets nominated. Then you look at some of the sad excuses for singers who are nominated and wonder whether the commenters are actually from another planet. Someone reckoned she gets nominated every year!
I hadn't listened to Anna Calvi's album until just before the Brits came on. I was really impressed. Also, I hadn't listened to Mark Lanegan's new album, so I listened to it during the Brits. What an experience to listen to that as Olly Murs comes on stage and does his funny little dance! Another good album, by the way. The Brits really are a joke. I have an affliction to awards anyway.
Best discussion I saw between two people on twitter, who questioned Polly's nomination: Something along the lines that the album was like a history lesson and...it was about medieval times! See? That's the British education system for you. So, it's a bit like AJP Taylor being in the room and remember: Gallipoli battles were in medieval times.
Also, some 'entertainment' can be found in reading the anti comments on youtube. Particularly on the official videos of 'The Words That Maketh Murder' and 'Let England Shake'. I may have added the odd comment in response, here and there! Some good people are answering back too.
