Lyrics sheets

Post by bruise »

Being the PJ-nerd I am, thought I'd make a thread to have them all in one place, with a little bit of photoshop here and there.
So far we have (in chronological order):

The Bay
We Float
The Letter
The Desperate Kingdom of Love
When Under Ether
White Chalk
Written On The Forehead
The Ministry Of Social Affairs
The Community of Hope
Lwonesome Tonight
A Child's Question, August
Autumn Term
I Inside the Old I Dying
I Inside the Old Year Dying
All Souls
Prayer at the Gate
Seem an I
A Child's Question, July
A Noiseless Noise
The Nether-Edge

Very interesting to see that she obviously considered a chronological tracklisting for the album!

An Interesting detail: the last two stanzas of the poem were originally meant to be the final part of the song with a change of chord (B) and "different picking pattern/ strumming pattern/ tempo", as in the outro of The Nether-Edge.

"out of 'Reaping' end"... means that also the poem "Reaping" has been made into a song!

Very interesting notes on Prayer at the Gate, I think its my favourite track on the album actually, several mention to the demo in her notes, so there are actual demos for IITOYD, just not done on her 4 tracks but her phone ?

In the mailing sent out today about “Prayer at the Gate” there is a picture of a studio note reading OCTOBER MIXES that mentions LCO, which I assume is London Contemporary Orchestra (who have worked, among others, with Radiohead / Thom Yorke / Jonny Greenwood / The Smile).

I think this is the second time I see them mentioned in Polly’s studio notes so it’s possible they were seriously considered for at least some of the I Inside… songs. I wonder if actual recording sessions with them took place? Who arranged the strings? I guess we’ll never know but the idea of Polly singing backed by an orchestral ensemble is very interesting.
