thought last night was superb,so many highlights...
the reviewer who mentioned the theatricality of the set
and performance was spot on i reckon...like polly
was getting into character for these missives from the
front line...kinda reminded me of when lou reed came over
and played his entire "magic and loss" album, i don't recall
him being chatty with the audience, except to tell them
to f**k off if they didn't like it ;)

anyhow for those willing and able, here's my recording of last night

Pocket Knife was fantastic too! Cripes I could go on about the whole set! But as Skinned said, England was very moving! Best £80 I've ever spent, even though I didn't speak to a soul all night. Last thing, Mick and Polly singing The Colour Of The Earth gave me goosebumps!

Ok, LAST point, the way Bitter Branches made me jump with every beat too! That was FANTASTIC!
I loved Pocket Knife (started squealing and clapping like a little girl when that began!) and Big Exit - good crowd. I too was disappointed by the lack of interaction -some guy to the right of me actually shouted "Please say hello!" halfway through the set, LOL.

Her voice sounded great aswell though, especially on 'England'.

Shame you didn't speak to anyone! I was with my Dad

I came back home tonight (Israel) after 4 nights in London (so cold!) and 2 shows. The first show was flawless, but I guess it lacked the energy that the second show had. The mistake at the beginning of "The Devil", "Pocket Knife" being on the set, the crowd was more in to it I think - that made the second show even better. They both were incredible for me anyway, as I got to see Polly live for the first (and then second) time. She's still theatrical, just not in TBYML style - those of you who were in the Sunday show probably saw how she gazed upwards to "listen" to the sample at the end of England, so very dramatic and beautiful. She was moving around a lot more at the second show, I loved it, and she also started clapping at the middle of TWTMM, I think we owe that to the Brazilians standing next to me, who've been to all the 8 shows and tried to bring Polly a rose, they were not successful. I stood at the same spot both nights, right in front of Polly, 1.5 row, if that makes sense. Maybe I saw some gardeners and was not aware of that. And of course I'll end on a sad note. I was really naive in thinking that all Polly fans were heavenly creatures who can do no wrong, but I sure learned my lesson. Front row people are selfish and unfriendly. But Polly is amazing and beautiful and really brought me a lot of happiness. This post was kind of lengthy, oh well.

Thanks, I got a good recording that night too, but I'll work on Sundays now I guess (!). Monday was better audio for sure though. We must have been standing pretty close from your desciption, I was left on the barrier 20ft(?) back.

I'm guessing this is a review of the Sunday gig:

'Yep, Britain's best rock queen still rules the scene.'

Wiggins is so superbly unassuming, he looks like he's about to say 'Pop the gold medal in the post, I'm nipping out for some biscuits'

Well, if I did the moderator might ban me, .

I was at the Sunday evening Troxy gig, and I thought the performance was fantastic. If I was looking to find fault I could, but love covers over a multitude of things, and as a fan, any of that "****" is easily overlooked by my appreciation for PJ and her music/art (and it IS art).

Whoever this reviewer is clearly hasn't noticed their review site's tagline of "Unbiased media and entertainment news". Maybe they should find a job working in a certain Libyan Colonel's PR department?

Anyhow, I am very thankful for the one who posted the torrent link. A great memento of a fabulous evening. (I was standing in the pit about 6 foot towards the stage from the stairs on the left).
I have seen and done things I want to forget.

"These middle class thirty-somethings really need to download an autoharp chill out app."
Hey - where can you get that?! What's it called?!
... and "thirty-somethings" :???: some of us have done better than that

there's a good chance yr monday night is better
if you were closer, with no bodies in front of you..
there is a fair amount of audience chat (otherwise known as sacriledge)
on mine, but it's your call.

from the above:-
(after the crowd were treated to a lengthy, tone-setting thunderstorm sound effect),
Were we?

I was there from about 7.30 ish and i don't remember that? I seem to vaguely recall the odd thud from the stage area. I do remember the place being bloody freezing tho until the gig kicked off rather like being on the Eastern Front!
God if that's true i really was sitting in the worst place for sound!!!!!! :???:

I've got a reputation for being able to sleep through thunderstorms, fire alarms etc. at night. I didn't realise I had the ability to do that in daylight waking hours till now though, that's impressive

Thanks for that i thought my hearing was even worse than i thought!

I'm also pleased i read somewhere that i didn't imagine that the reek of onions and hotdogs was wafting strongly across the balcony during the latter part of the gig. Again i thought i was in some surreal 'smell'o'vision' experiment to bring the experiance of the battlefield to the viewing public.

Did Polly change to a white dress for the Monday night?

I was rather impressed with the all black outfit on the Sunday; set and suited the tone of the event.

From Miss Haversham on the 'White Chalk' shows to the Avenging Angel of Death on 'LES'

Yeah, white dress Monday, complete with what looked like a piece of Imperial Stormtrooper body armour (!)
