odd that the last 30 or so seconds are completely silent, and black.

That's most likely because Windows Movie Maker does not seem to allow you to fit the photos into the entire length of an audio track. It's the one area in which I'm having trouble creating a slideshow. I've already put up one slideshow of 145 high quality photos from Polly and John's El Rey gig back in March. I've synced the photos with "Urn" and "Civil War", and I was able to fit photos into audio using Picasa. However, with every slideshow I've tried to create since then using Picasa, there is a problem with the audio once it’s been loaded into Picasa. It comes out distorted. Plus, Picasa only recognizes MP3's, so I can't use the original WAV's. So I tried Windows Movie Maker and I was able to use WAV's, and had many more options for creating the slideshow. The only downside is there seems to be no option for fitting the photos into the audio track. The only option is to make for five second breaks between photo transitions, and not 5.5, 5.6 second breaks, etc.
