Happy Cactus - Deidre Casey/The Decemberists- Colin Meloy: “I like to tell people the story (of how) we went on our honeymoon with Colin Meloy,” she said. For their wedding trip, they all headed to Portland to hear one of their favorite singers, P.J. Harvey."

Love her even more now.

Geoff Barrow of Portishead. On twitter. Admittedly, he is a bit biased. :-):

'John parish's and PJ Harvey production/writing on let England shake is the dogs bollox.. Should of (sic) won 10 Grammys.'

Joe Goddard (hot chip) http://www.mixmag.net/words/features/jo ... rd-q%2526a

What’s been your album of the year?
I’ve been listening to the PJ Harvey record a lot recently. I only really picked up on it after the Mercury’s but it’s a great record. The song writing and production is really great and her voice sounds brilliant. Also I really like the fact that it’s quite a serious record and it’s making a point.

Ethan Miller - Comets on Fire/ Howlin Rain- "But when Miller spent a year in England he was in a bigger city that was a hub for blockbuster acts that were coming through -- and he was able to catch bands like PJ Harvey, Mudhoney, Ministry and Nirvana."

I guess I can add Ben Folds and Regina Spektor. They provided commentary for her segment on vh1's ridiculous greatest females list. I can't quote exactly what was said.. unless someone has seen her bit and wants to help me out?

Dana Colley(Baritone Sax-Morphine): "Dana cites PJ Harvey and Nick Cave as two of his favourite artists"

Marianne Faithfull: "Today she claims to listen to a wide range of music. “Polly Harvey [PJ HARVEY] (we worked together on Before The Poison), she is incredibly talented and her new album Let England Shake is wonderful."

Oathbreaker(Metallic punk band from Belgium. Ivo-Drummer) "Some recent stuff I picked up was the new Graveyard record, the last Ghostface Killah record and the new PJ Harvey record. Next to that, I’ve been getting into The La’s and Morphine lately"

Matt Miller(Sparta): "What are you personally listening to right now?" It’s kind of all over the place. P.J. Harvey, Morphine, This band called The Life and Times; amazing band."

Tricky: "Lists PJ's 50ft Queenie as one of his favourite songs"

Brian Fallon(The Gaslight Anthem/Horrible Crowes): "I still had the desire to write, but I didn’t want to write anymore rock n roll songs. I was in this weird mood; I had just gotten this PJ Harvey record, and this was right around the time that High Violet came out from the National, too."

Ghostpoet: "Well, anyone could have won it. It was a thing where there were so many people that actually could win it. It went to PJ Harvey, you know, she’s a talented individual… so it makes sense. Me, I never thought I was going to win it."

Ghostpoet: "Big up PJ Harvey, it’s an amazing album."

Geoff Rickly(Thursday): "(on his influences) - PJ HARVEY'S STORIES FROM THE CITY, STORIES FROM THE SEA "In this post-ironic era, it's brave to do a record about place and feeling and being totally straight forward," he says, citing "This Mess We're In," featuring Radiohead's Thom Yorke, as his favorite track. "She's such an inspiration because she's so fearless. I wish I could be fearless like her."

Geoff Rickly(Thursday): "Then I started looking at artists like PJ Harvey who I think is a fantastic singer who follows her own strange muse. I think that’s one of the most powerful things you can be as a songwriter. You know, someone who follows your own guideline. You’re not an iconoclast. You’re not trying to change the rules or break the rules or destroy anything that came before you. You’re just going with your little version of the world. You see the world in a certain way and you show it to other people. I love that. It’s such a beautiful thing, and I thinks that’s why I like people like Nick Cave and Tom Waits and PJ Harvey. They have a vision."

Geoff Rickly(Thursday): "Our band was listening to a lot of artists like PJ Harvey and Kate Bush. A lot of soundscape stuff."

Geoff Rickly(Thursday): "Rickly states that he has always enjoyed songs like PJ Harvey's "Man Size".

Ana Da Silva(The Raincoats): "I think P.J. Harvey’s latest album is so good, so I enjoyed listening to it at seeing them live a couple of times."

EMA: "You’re talking about PJ Harvey and she’s been putting out records for 20 years. And Madonna? She’s been putting out records for 30 or 35 years! Is that right? Am I doing my math right? What’s 1985? Twenty-five. So at least 25 years. I don’t mind being compared to these fucking awesome career women, but I can’t tell if there is a contemporary analogue."

Kathryn Calder(New Pornographers): "My favorite record of 2011 is the new PJ Harvey, “Let England Shake.” I just love PJ Harvey. She did a really great job. She has an amazing voice."

Mags Furuholmen(A-ha lol): "Mags mentions bands like The Doors and The Beatles while he was growing up, and lately artists like Jeff Buckley, Kurt Cobain, PJ Harvey, Sinead O’Connor, Beck, Radiohead, Aimee Mann and Leonard Cohen."

Siouxsie: Today, I sometimes still make the effort to buy records, but you really have to look hard. I sometimes come across a song that I like a lot, like Addicted to Love - Smoke City, last year. With Budgie, we enjoyed the last Tricky and inevitably the new PJ Harvey album.(Les Inrocks Feb 99)
