9 out of 10

"Compositionally, Hope Six is gorgeous, and features some of Harvey's best melodies yet. Perhaps because she worked with the same producers, it shares a sonic atmosphere with 2011's Let England Shake, making it sound something like a sister album to that release. Her voice, characteristically haunting and piercing, is pronounced and shining here, exuding strength on 'Near the Memorials to Vietnam and Lincoln,' wavering in delicate falsetto on "A Line in the Sand," snarling commandingly on 'Medicinals' and whispering eerily on 'River Anacostia.' Harvey's vocals are at the forefront of every track here, fattened up with reverb and layered backing vocals, reinforcing the notion of community, empathy and inclusiveness that Harvey seems to wish was more constant in this world. "

What a song. Ministry of Defence is so beautiful. A jewel.

"And the ghost of a girl
Who runs and hides..."

Thank you guys!

It's kind of hilarious actually the way they stuck little things in the quieter moments of the song.
Yea. This is how the world will end.

I love that line. And:

"Those are children's
cries from the dark"

Hard-hitting, yet catchy and beautiful. A great song.

So I listened to the BBC audio, Paul Schwartzman said those weren't all his words and that it was her "interpretation" of him. Those are all literally his words in the poem in quotes! It's shameful for him to say "she's an artist... there is no fact checking". He's only saying that to save face after the backlash, 'cause really he should be saying that to himself. I like how Polly kind of mocked him with this song. If only people weren't so dense and understood that there could be a deeper meaning to a song without it being spelled out.

I loved their bit about the album though, it's definitely worth a listen. A Line In The Sand sounds amazing - her falsetto gave me goosebumps.
I'll rub it, until it...

This album is amazing. Fuck off to all the shitty reviews. Here's a little clip I shared on Instagram a few moments ago. A little "Ministry of Social Affairs" teaser ;)

"A Line In The Sand" is really quite incredible. "Dollar Dollar" is a gorgeous track. I think "Medicinals" is still one of the best. All around, a solid piece of work. I actually am surprised that after loving the live version of "Ministry of Social Affairs", I think that's my least favorite!

I can do a video for you guys featuring more than that little 15 seconds if you'd like. Request? I hesitate to tape the whole thing since technically it ain't supposed to be out yet!

Oh and "River Anacostia" is a little bizarre in studio form. The 'wade in the water' bits are nice, but they seem totally atonal next to the rest of the song.

Here's a little snippet of "A Line In The Sand" because it's amazing. And I figured I'd show you what the vinyl (and poster inside) looks like :)

Oh and FYI- the vinyl comes with a card to download the Mp3's, but alas, they are not available until 4/15! They have really protected this baby.

Thanks a lot! I was thinking the poster would be the album cover - I might have to frame that. A Line In The Sand sounds incredible.
