^ Ha, clash of egos. I love them both, for different reasons. Neither one is an instrumentalist. Miles Davis couldn't keep up with the frenetic pace of bebop so he deliberately kept it simple, which for him turned out to be a genius move. Monk the same, compared to say, Art Tatum. But he has a casual, heavily syncopated style that has never been equaled.
