Re: Polly Admiration (Muso fans)
From a new interview with Tori Amos:
"Adele has sold so many records, and PJ Harvey just won the Mercury Prize. How do you feel about the success of British solo female artists this year?"
"I think it's exciting that such talented women are doing so well. I think it's an important message for other women that are up-and-coming."
(don't know if I agree about Adele...but anyway)

from Drowned in Sound interview with Saul Williams
DiS: So what are you listening to?
Saul: At this moment... I’m listening to old stuff right now, like Leonard Cohen and Patti Smith. Everything I’ve been listening to is old with the exception of a few new albums, PJ Harvey and stuff like that.

More Tori Amos:
"I remind Amos of another landmark, namely the 1994 Q magazine cover that saw her photographed alongside Björk and PJ Harvey under the caption "Hips. Lips. Tits. Power."
"You know, Q got it absolutely right" Amos concludes, smiling at the memory. "I think of Björk and Polly as my creative compatriots – we were going strong then and we're all still going strong now."
From the independent.

Well done, Polly_Jean_Cave. I read that very late last night/this morning but didn't realise it was a 'muso'. I like looking up on twitter at the moment; some interesting things come up on there, as I'm sure you notice. I even trace people's email, blogs on there and then invite them to The Garden.Polly_Jean_Cave wrote:Frank Carter(Ex Gallows) on twitter

Jarvis Cocker played TWTMM on his show not long ago. Also, filling in for Jarvis on one occasion - Marianne Faithfull played Let England Shake.

Elvis Costello( favourite albums in his Amazon.co.uk guest edit. 04)
"Uh Huh Her by PJ Harvey
My favourite Polly Harvey records have always been the raw and bare ones, driven by her great guitar playing and voice. She plays everything on this one, except drums and it is all the more vivid as a consequence. Check out "Slow Drug" and "Pocketknife". "

Joy Formidable's Ritzy again:
"I can hear other elements in your sound. There are some complex time signatures in the music that have been used by the Pixies and PJ Harvey. Are they also an influence?'""
"Yes, very much. I've yet to get PJ Harvey's new LP, 'Let England Shake', but I've been very much waiting for that. And the Pixies, of course, have created timeless classic songs and albums." (21/2)
Keith Richards:
"One artist I reallly admire is PJ Harvey" (mid 90's interview)

Dont know if this should count...but Rob Ellis:
"Polly's new album is even better than White Chalk, which is quite something, congratulations to all involved. Her best work yet I think."

Johnny Marr:
"What are your views about the creative state right now? Cause I know in the underground, there’s always stuff going on, but as far as mainstream it seemed to me to be a little more sincere than it is now."
"You just have to kinda ignore the rubbish.
But, right now I can say to you, mainstream, I could say well, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Air, Godspeed You Black Empire, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, The Kills, obviously The White Stripes, Buz, sometimes the Vines, I guess, when they’re not pretending to be something they’re not. Right there, I can name ten bands. Now if I really put my mind to it, I could probably name another five, or ten."
Johnny's also played A perfect Day Elise a few times as a guest host on XFM. And chose Oh My Lover to play when he compiled his favourite peel sessions.
