Last movie you watched?

I just saw Inception. I tend to avoid huge action flicks, but Christopher Nolan is actually a genius. I loved the Dark Knight, but I thought the hype was a little over the top. This time, however, even the greatest reviews seem to be an understatement. Imagine a cross between Memento and The Dark Knight...then multiply both experiences by 100.

There is a fifteen minute sequence that is the most disorienting and intense scene that I have seen in a long time; I haven't been that engrossed in a scene since the last fifteen minutes of Heavenly Creatures, although for very different reasons. My boyfriend and I actually laughed out loud after the scene was over because we realized we had been screaming like idiots.

And, of course, Marion Cotillard is incredible. Also, I was worried that Ellen Page's character would exist solely to ask the questions that the audience had (What is inception? How does this dream sharing work?), but she did an awesome job at making a pretty dynamic and ballsy character.

^ I need to see that. I opted for Salt instead though for tonight. Angelina kicked ass and the movie was non-stop action.

Saw "Inception" tonight and now I just can't go to sleep. The movie is a freaking mind-blower O_O I definitely need to see it again! "Dark Knight" was cool but now Nolan just left me totally speechless (and disorientated). And I wasn't even aware that the film is so long, after screening it was pretty surprising when I realized that I spent in a movie theatre almost 3 hours.

I have a chance to get a bit caught up on movies...

Ingloreus Basterds, or however it's misspelled. Entertaining, but I've decided I don't like Tarentino that much. Heresy I know, I appreciate his originality, but his movies strike me as graphic novels, lots of "Wow factor," little character development and over the top violence. I kept going "Oh he's not going to kill her off too - oh no, there she goes." Killing off all your characters isn't necessary to develop the plot, it's gratuitous.

The Runaways - fun, and a good authentic story. The band is better than I remembered.

Jesus Camp. - Yikes! Part of America I've never seen.

Yojiro Takita's Departures , such a touching and beautiful movie. the encoffining ritual performed like a tea ceremony, precise and flowing, and the rest of the film very gentle and poignant

watched the coen brothers ' a serious' man, good but not their greatest
A single man by Tom Ford i loved the look of, i don't mind the set pieces that some people didn't like, the only thing i found wierd was the music which seemed way too much like that of 'in the mood for love'
'the beaches of agnes' was an interesting documentary about agnes varda, a really remarkable woman,- i suspect the film only portrayed her easier side!

happened to be in Brighton during the festival in June and was glad to catch Malcolm Le Grice ' Berlin Horse'
and was really pleased to receive Let the Right One In (DVD and book- saving that for my holiday), Pan's Labriynthe and la Jetee for my birthday last month!

Inception, didn't love it in the way i did momento but interesting, a satisfying movie, not
surprising to learn that Borges was on nolan's mind when he was writing it

Let The Rigth One In; It's Beautiful ¡¡¡¡

I felt nostalgic and decided to watch the awesome and super sad/cute "Land Before Time" yup, yup, yup!

Unveiled - It was so engrossing. It was like watching it happen in real life or something. Sure, the comparison to Boys Don't Cry is obvious, but the ending is not as tragic but still pretty sad. Loved it. It's on Watch Instantly on Netflix for those who have it.

I just watched Lisa Cholodenko's "Laurel Canyon" after immensely enjoying "The Kids are All Right", and I must say I'm slightly disappointed. I love Frances McDormand and it's somewhat connected to Mark Linkous, so that's good, but it was not written very well. Shame.
