I think it's been a lot longer than that - nothing personal, no politics, no religion; 'the work speaks for itself and anything I could say would narrow its scope and hamstring its effectiveness'. I agree it's a bit frustrating, but I don't know, I think she's on her rights. Yes, that’s the first thing that came to my mind, too—that offhand fox hunting comment back in the 90s has cast a long shadow. Also, when she guest-edited BBC Radio 4’s Today show 10 years ago she got a lot of flak from right-wingers and conservatives—”leftist tosh”, “liberal drivel” etc.—even John Parish penned an op-ed to defend her choices.
