Oooh that's better..
The first one is apparently from a French magazine, the legend says "Every artist's vocation is to widen the field of their imagination"

I don't understand why some people here dislike him so intensely. I mean if you like Harvey, particularly "To Bring you my love/ Is this desire era"...and infact the influence has been there throughout her whole career; then you've got to like Nick Cave as their style is so similar. I'm guessing most don't like him on a personal level. How he comes off as a bit conceited and on occasion rude in interviews. And the blatant bitterness and hostility he did have towards her for a long time, which was BTW only because he loves her so  haha. But, would you really have liked it if "Henry Lee" didn't exist? Admit it...that is an amazing song! Well, it probably would exist with a different vocalist...here's a scary thought - what if Kylie Minogue played her part instead! That would be a real nightmare!

If he's been an positive influence on PJ, fine. But do we know who influenced who?
I'm sorry but I can't listen to his music. I once forced myself through Boatman's Call and I found it vulgar and lacking any subtlety, totally opposite of PJ's music. It was a torture.
Anyway, I can tolerate that you like him, to each their own :)

lol. You'd have to be kidding yourself to say she didn't take a few pages out of the Cave book for "TBYML" But, then again before Cave there was Waits...they've both stolen a whole deal off Waits. Which is fine, because they've both remained authentic and never have been particularly derivative to the point of offensive. You probably didn't like that album because 90% of it was about *you know who* right? I actually agree the boatman's call wasn't his best, I didn't find any of the songs apart from maybe "Green Eyes" offensive, "Into my arms" and "Brompton Oratory" have to be two of the most beautiful songs anyone could write about someone though. I'm not going to go ramming anything down your throat, but I suggest you at least give "Tender Prey" or "Let Love In" or "From Her To Eternity" or even "Murder Ballads" a go.
He is a phenomenal lyricist and a great story teller. I don't think he should be dismissed as abruptly as he has been.

Well, at least i've tried ;) I might even give him another try some day...
But even if he was all you said he is, music is a very personal matter and I think you should trust your guts :)
