If he's been an positive influence on PJ, fine. But do we know who influenced who?
I'm sorry but I can't listen to his music. I once forced myself through Boatman's Call and I found it vulgar and lacking any subtlety, totally opposite of PJ's music. It was a torture.
Anyway, I can tolerate that you like him, to each their own

lol. You'd have to be kidding yourself to say she didn't take a few pages out of the Cave book for "TBYML" But, then again before Cave there was Waits...they've both stolen a whole deal off Waits. Which is fine, because they've both remained authentic and never have been particularly derivative to the point of offensive. You probably didn't like that album because 90% of it was about *you know who* right? I actually agree the boatman's call wasn't his best, I didn't find any of the songs apart from maybe "Green Eyes" offensive, "Into my arms" and "Brompton Oratory" have to be two of the most beautiful songs anyone could write about someone though. I'm not going to go ramming anything down your throat, but I suggest you at least give "Tender Prey" or "Let Love In" or "From Her To Eternity" or even "Murder Ballads" a go.
He is a phenomenal lyricist and a great story teller. I don't think he should be dismissed as abruptly as he has been.
