"England" slightly breaks my heart everytime. "All and Everyone" and "On Battleship Hill" are heavenly. I also really love "In The Dark Places" it still reminds me so much of "There is a light that never goes out" - that is in no way bad.

It definitely sounds like him at the beginning.

So exciting... I need to listen a lot more times though

I just got home awhile ago and I almost wasn't going to check here to see if they put the album up or not, but I'm glad I did. I really like on battleship hill I think that and the big guns are my fav songs. England and all & everyone are good to, but I didn't care for the way all & everyone ended its kinda weird how the song is structured if that makes any sense, like it builds up in random places and is kinda slow at the end I still like it but it just isn't what I expected. I think in the dark places, hanging in the wire, and the colour of the earth are my least favorite songs maybe they will grow on me more though. Overall I would say its really good though and it lived up to the hype for me anyway.

does it really ? I think it is the only song that doesn't catch me at the 1rst listening but it could grow on me just because pj's voice is really great on that song.

Big Guns should have replaced Bitter Branches.

I definitely think big guns is one of the best songs, its actually tied with on battleship hill for my favorite, and I don't get why it wasn't on the album because I think its better than a few of the ones that made the album. But I like bitter branches to I thinks good, I personally think in the dark places is the worst song I really don't like it at all to the point where I don't even want to listen to it again lol. I guess everyone has different tastes.

I think it's one of the highlights of the album. Maybe for some it requires a few listens. I think the sample works perfectly with Polly's voice, and I love how she tries to mimic the rhythm of the sample of that Kurdish woman singing to her son. It's both beautiful and heartwrenching aswell as somewhat sinister.

My Ranking

1. All And Everyone
2. Let England Shake
3. England
4. The Words That Maketh Murder
5. On Battleship Hill
6. In The Dark Places
7. The Glorious Land
8. Hanging In The Wire
9. Written On The Forhead
10. The Colour Of The Earth
11. Last Living Rose
12. Bitter Branches

I think the first 9 are phenomenally good,

The Colour of the Earth is good, it did take some time. But, It could almost be a campfire song.

Last Living Rose - Again a good song, it stands as the second dullest song on the record to me though. Of course it has its place though.

Bitter Branches - Ok, nothing great

But an overall 9/10 for me.

I haven't formed an official ranking as of yet, but I must say that I love Bitter Branches. "Their arms as bitter branches spreading into the world... wave goodbye, wave goodbye" - don't you have a heart? I think it's one of the best songs in the album lyrically and Polly's vocals in it are incredible.

i agree, Bitter Branches are amazing, not the best on the album but clearly not the worst. i don't know why everybody put it on the bottom of their lists. England is pure awesomeness along with All And Everyone. and i think if anything should be replaced with Big Guns, it should be Written On The Forehead.

I absolutely love her singing at the end of Let England Shake. Glorious Land and Written on the Forehead are still my favourites so far. It is such a fantastic day! The whole album is amazing.
