oh, now I just became aware that Black Hearted Love already posted this picture in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=708&start=45

but anyway, it doesn't hurt to repeat things (by repeating the acts of others) occasionally.

Excue me!? Two pieces of shit?..Two masterpieces? I don't think so! All four are exceptional!

Oh come on! We Float and Horses In My Dreams are not her best songs, and I'm not a Stories hater by saying that (I love "Big Exit", "A Place Called Home", "One Line", "Beautiful Feeling"...). Like many great artists, sometimes she's less inspired. I can pick up one or two albums I totally dislike for each band I love (The Residents "George and James" -> yurk; Coil "Love's Secret Domain" -> boring...). IMO, "Stories" and "UHH" are the proofs of that, even if they're good albums. I don't know there is something less unique, in comparison with others.

Now I have a big problem with you liking One line but not Horses! One Line though it's well written(I suppose) Sonically lush, and the chorus is nice...Its just so sickly sweet! I could really see Madonna or Kylie Minogue almost covering it! Horses..I don't know how anyone could hate that song..I'm near numb everytime I hear it. It is written beautifully, the music (sonically speaking) alingn's with the visual created by the lyrics. I find it very visceral and moving. And it is obviously a very intimate song. We Float..I was not keen on at first, I thought it was a bit melodramatic to be honest (even though our girl specialises in melodrama..still) and I don't like the part where she says "This is kinda about you...this is kind of about me..we just kind of lost touch(Too many kind of"s? lol) but it is well written...and the ending is stunning.

I had no real problem with Uh Her Her either. I felt that it was disappointing in comparison to all her previous work, though I still found it good. And I think some of the songs e.g. Its You, Desperate Kingdom of Love and Darker Days of me and him are among the best she's ever written. I think the main reason I preferred it a lot more than others might have is because I found the album(for the most part) to be very warm, and intimate..it almost seemed as if she was truly revealing herself for the first time, though without giving herself away at all. These are the only objections I have regarding Uh Huh Her: part of the album did seem almost unfinished, the album practically lives on two chords, I think "No child of the mine" is the biggest piece of filler anyone could ever stick on an album, the letter and Cat on the wall(especially cat) are great sonically but are poorly written lyrically.

Oh, and I'll just add that I loved stories. Not as much as some people (bandwagon jumpers mainly *rolls eyes*) but I took it for what it was instead of trying to make it something it wasn't..which was a pristine and great pop album! That's all she ever intended it to be and I think she succeeded remarkably well.

Here it says that a new PJ track will be previewed at the official site from tomorrow.

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsburge ... m.html.csp

I guess they misread the Zane Lowe announcement.

For those who are interested, I found the track time on last.fm on someone's profile (maybe a journalist): http://www.last.fm/user/remake_remodel/ ... land+Shake
It seems that the album length is around 40 minutes again but with some short songs and one track over 5 minutes (All and everyone, 5:40!!). One of the longest PJ track with Teclo (around 6 minutes), To Bring You My Love, We Float and Horses in My Dreams: two masterpieces and two pieces of s***. So we can't judge songs quality with that information...

thanks for the last.fm link but in the list; one song is missing: "The Colour of the Heart" so maybe album will be little bit longer and just to mention; I dont agree about We Float and Horses in My Dreams idea. Of course tastes change person to person

Maybe it is true because it doesn't make any sense to play a song in radio show. everbody can record and distribute the song so maybe after the show they will put the song for preview. but who knows!

Did anyone message the lastfm chick? I'm thinking of asking her how she got it and what she thinks of it.

Woaw! Things can happening: I completely agree with you, even if I only like Stories but not love it ^^ And, concerning "One line", I second what you've said: the lyrics are very lame but musically, I love song's structure and it's just melancholicaly perfect. Finally, I share your opinion about "Uh Huh Her": unfinished with awesome tracks on it. So, we're completely agree, in fact
I was just comparing these albums to the others, and was considering that weirdness miss them (except "The Slow Drug" which is exceptionnal)

Sorry, this conversation is completely off thread... :eyeroll:

You're right. The album length could be a bit longer. Over 40 minutes... Great!

Yes! The slow drug(especially the beginning) was gorgeous. And how great were the b-sides during this era! Even though they were in similar vein to songs she had already written, "The falling" her delivery, and the lyrics have to be some of the best she's ever penned.
