For your info : I have been to Paleo Festival a few times, it is one of the biggest (the biggest ?) music festivals in Switzerland.
Nice site. Polly will probably play on the main stage with is for 30,000 people or something - typical festival main stage, nothing special.
It is not a 100% rock ...

Re: PJ at l'Olympia Paris 2011-02-24
People who want a repetition of her last tour (or any other) well, should've been there when it was time.
Hmm, that sounds slightly disdainful. Nice.
It's not about people just wanting to hear everything as it was before. I like the new record a lot and love that she's touring it.

Re: PJ at l'Olympia Paris 2011-02-24
Tonight in Paris she played pretty much everything that she has in store on this tour : all LES + bside + DBTW, The Sky Lit Up, Cmon Billy, The Devil, Big Exit. The encore was Meet Ze Monsta + Angelene + Silence.
Was it good ? Well, yes, of course, because her voice is perfect and everything is ...

Re: Tour set list?
According to some review I read the only addition was The Sky Lit Up, and the rest of the setlist was the same : all LES + bside + 5-6 old songs from TBYML, Is This Desire, Stories and White Chalk.
So now the setlist is around 21 or 22 songs. I wonder if her new thing is to add one new song at each ...

Re: Feb 2011 tour
The Brussels 18/02 setlist (not in order, because I didn't write it down):
All the LES songs + The Big Guns
Older songs: The Devil, The River, C'M Billy, Angelene, Down By The River
Only one encore: Silence
Great concert, but maybe a bit too short...
Wow. I'm afraid it doesn't even make a 90 ...

Re: Arte Live Web - Feb 14th
There were only 25x2 invitations to win on the internet for the fans, meaning all the rest is for Deezer corporate guests and journalists, which may be a painful audience. Some of these people may not come to the gig in the end so I will come in front of the venue and give it a try, it is not ...

Oh, and elsinore - Passionless, Pointless and Cracks in the Canvas are some of the standout tracks on AWAMWB as far as I'm concerned. Which tracks on the album do you find to be the strongest?

La Maroquinerie is a tiny venue 10 minutes walk from where I live, I have seen several bands which I love there, it is really raging to think Polly J will be playing there and I probably won't be able to attend. I know this place so well, my fan pride is hurt

Re: Worst PJ Album?
Definitely Stories.
There are a few good songs on it but I don't like the production and most of it really sounds all fake and forced to me, like "I wanted to do my poppy, clean record". It's a sort of exercise.
UHH may have weakest songs on it but sounds more sincere to me and seems overall more ...

Re: Down by the Water
BTW was anyone at the Paris show ?
I was in the front with my friend and we kept asking for Heela or City of no Sun. Polly went "ooooh... City of no sun..." and looked at John as if she really wanted to sing it. John hesitated and then said "oh no, we can't remember that one". We laughed and said ...

Re: Down by the Water
I do hope that she will play different setlists every night for the future gigs.
I think the White Chalk solo tour was very special, as she had to do everything on stage, maybe she felt less confident. I always thought that she had struggled to do a coherent set of songs she could play by herself ...

Re: Polly Admiration (Muso fans)
Liars (who are in my opinion one of the very best bands that appeared in the years 2000) quoted My Beautiful Leah quite a few times.
Such as :
PJ Harvey, "My Beautiful Leah": A track which has been personally influential for Angus. There is a bass sound on this track which Angus has tried (and ...

Re: Polly's New Album: What We Know So Far
Thanks for all this.
It is different from what she has done so far for sure, as usual. Though Glorious Land sounds like a continuation of what she experimented with Sixteen, Fifteen, Fourteen, for instance.
I'm not sure I like it too much, we will see with some time and the feel of the whole album ...

Re: Polly's New Album: What We Know So Far
What I grab so far :
deeply thematised album
very orchestrated songs
a lot of autoharps
a few loud tracks
Which makes me think (at best) of some cross between the Is This Desire atmosphere and structure and the sound of the last records.
Sounds intriguing but may end up disappointing. I am not ...
