Re: ORLAM – A narrative poem by PJ Harvey – published April

Or perhaps they could also consider the quote that comes directly from Polly - I can't remember it exactly - but it was something along the lines of being on a mission to explore what it means to be a human being on this earth through music until the day she dies.

And anyway I am not so ...

Re: PJ puts West Hollywood Condo up for sale

Possibly she's looking to buy a place in Russia to write the next record in?

That's OK, I'm sorry for taking it so personally then! By the way, my guilty pleasure is ABBA ;)

Re: "PJ Harvey Curates" [playlists of her favourite songs]

I only meant to say (hopefully in a slightly humorous way) that I personally don't like Beyonce's music and have no interest in hearing it on a playlist, on the radio or anywhere ever, and if that makes me a musical snob then a glad musical snob I am! :)

Re: "PJ Harvey Curates" [playlists of her favourite songs]

You know, when you make a car playlist for roadtrips with friends you don't put Arvo Part or Diamanda Galas or Swans there. :)

I have fantasies of playing Diamanda Galas or Captain Beefheart at people who claim they like dark and heavy music, though I'm not yet vile enough to actually do it and ...

Re: "PJ Harvey Curates" [playlists of her favourite songs]

I think I can now safely say PJ is my favourite DJ! Fantastic, these playlists!
Strangely, Mr B, I can't stand most of the music she's listing. I'm finding myself thankful that what she makes is so much more interesting than what she listens to! I tell you, if she's in the car, I'm picking the CD ...

Re: "PJ Harvey Curates" [playlists of her favourite songs]

Surprised she seems to like The Doors so much. Morrison is often knocked as a dreadful poet. At least among those who study poetry. Then again, this is rock music and so lyrics are intertwined with the music. Lyrics that wouldn't necessarily stand on their own can still work within a musical ...

I don't know why Sziget didn't stream it on ther site. They streamed a lot of less interesting artists (to my ears at least). They definetly were filming it though, so there must be a tape or something somewhere.

Re: PJ Pic of the Day #10

Incidentally, I have a suspicion that Polly's near-complete silence is related less to her dislike of the whole business than the particular circumstances of this album.

My thoughts exactly! As much as I adore reading/listening/watching Polly's interviews I don't mind the silence at all! In fact ...

Re: New Video - The Camp

Oops, I just listened to the song again, turns out I DID make out all the lyrics, it's just that the lyrics I thought I didn't make out aren't there at all in the recording.
Yes, Blake is very interesting indeed - so very modern in many ways.

Re: New Video - The Camp

When the song was released I couldn't quite make out all the lyrics, but now that they're up on Polly's official site, seems to me this is what William Blake would be doing if he were living now!
