Other PJ Places

Have we ever had a thread listing other PJ Harvey web sites? Probably, I'll probably find it again soon. But I don't recall seeing this site before -
The PJ Harvey community on Live Journal

If there was a topic/thread for this at the old forum, please direct me to it, we should have one here.

The PJ livejournal community has been around for a good while now actually. I'm currently a member. But, much like the official PJ forum, its kind of dead.

The only other places I check out is @forumz PJ section. I know there are a few other foreign language places, but since I can't understand anything, I stick to the english parts :green:

I visit the livejournal one often. I also visit these on there but they're rarely updated:

^ I'd say probably not. It takes a fair amount of effort to create these things, so I believe they're still targeting PCs. There's a lot of money to be made from these. I've heard that they're mostly Russian and Chinese based. The thing that's disturbing is that unlike viruses of old, they're completely silent. They simply wait for you to type out a credit card number, capture it and send it back to a server.

I've also read that it's really an arms race between AV vendors and virus makers and the AV vendors are losing the battle.

I tell 'ya, it's enough to make you paranoid. In the future we may all have to have 2 computers: 1 for surfing and fun stuff and the other used strictly for online shopping.

They even over took pjnet once with porno bots, I'm not sure why pj. But if you look on her videos on youtube lately it's a lot of negative stuff.

there's no way of knowing if you have one? :o eek; i've been wondering if i should get anti virus stuff for my mac cause it seems like they're getting more popular so viruses may start being more frequent.

that's so odd to me; seems like a very random person to "target" with that stuff. (puzzled)

You should get anti virus software for you Mac, but something like 99.9% of malware infects PCs only. Seriously, I think in the last 10 years, there's been about 10 viruses for Mac and about 50,000 for PC. But you should get anti virus anyway.

I don't know why people create viruses and trojans, it servers no commercial purpose. I think they're just into the power.

But bots that infect message boards with, whatever, are trying to drive traffic to their web sites. They might get a few people from the boards themselves to click through to their sites, but what they really want are lots of links on the net to their sites. Some search engines then find them, and list them higher on their search returns. There are a lot of message boards that are inactive, and wind up as repositories for this stuff, just look at the forum5 support forums.

Looking to get a backup for your forum or maybe you'd just like to buy some shoes?

The deleted posts were probably porn.

I've been a Mac user for the past 9 years and I not once ran into any virus problems. As H&HW noted, the majority of viruses are meant to attack the PC. Since Apple has gained popularity though, more and more viruses have been made to attack the OSX.

Now that I'm older/wiser, I guess I should install some sort of anti-virus program for it. Rather be safe than sorry. What would you recommend H&HW?

I use Intego's Virus Barrier and their firewall program, Netbarrier.

http://www.intego.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I haven't done any comparison shopping in a while though. I soured on Norton when they stopped supporting Macs, and didn't go back when they did. The important thing, IMO, is that they frequently update their virus definitions.
