My second time seeing Polly on the Hope Six Demolition tour. Looking forward to seeing how the show works in an open-air festival setting!
I'm not going to be taking any pictures (because people with their phones up at gigs annoy the shit out of me) but I'm bookmarking this thread so I can post the setlist right afterwards.
01. "Chain of Keys"
02. "The Ministry of Defence"
03. "The Community of Hope"
04. "Shame"
05. "Let England Shake"
06. "The Words That Maketh Murder"
07. "The Glorious Land"
08. "Dear Darkness"
09. "White Chalk"
10. "In the Dark Places"
11. "The Wheel"
12. "The Ministry of Social Affairs"
13. "50ft Queenie"
14. "Down by the Water"
15. "To Bring You My Love"
16. "River Anacostia"
[Apparently, without the encore.]
Spoiler! :

Great gig! The current show works very well in a festival setting. PJ seemed to be in a great mood, smiling and nodding towards the audience in-between songs (still not a word other than "Dziękuję" and band introduction). The gig was surprisingly early (19:40) so it was still sunny when she started, and then the sun set over the course of the concert. It made the "small red sun makes way for night" line in "River Anacostia" especially beautiful.
I talked to some people afterwards who were just casual PJ fans and everyone said it was jaw-droppingly good. I guess she made some new fans with this performance.
based on previous experience with their website I would expect this broadcast to become available for listening afterwards, if so it might be possible to download it; or maybe somebody manage to record it during the live broadcast? - I'm hoping for either to be the case.
Man, I wish youtube would do something about the pollution by these scammers:
DON'T click the link it wants you to.
It's getting harder and harder to see when real PJ youtube videos are uploaded since the scammers are flooding youtube with their crap every few minutes.
So, I assume no-one recorded the live broadcast of the concert by Polish Radio Trójka? Their site doesn't say anything about a possibility of re-broadcast, unfortunately. I wish I could listen to the show again.
BTW here's a quote from Trójka's musical director about Polly agreeing for live broadcast:
We have this term that we probably overuse sometimes - "a Trójka artist". But when it comes to PJ Harvey, she surely is a "Trójka artist" indeed, we have been fans of her since the beginning of her career in the early 90s. And we remain fans today. Her every new album is a huge event, voncerts as well. That's why we're so proud that when we mentoned "Trójka" her management and the artist herself agreed to broadcast the OFF Festival performance live, which was incredibly important to us. Oftentimes artists want to approve the recording before broadcast, in order to correct something or cut out failures. Meanwhile PJ immediately agreed for fans of Trójka to listen to her concert live, as if they were right in front of the stage.
There have been some cases when they'd rebroadcast live concerts in some late-night programmes. I'll try to keep an eye for that.
