PJ on VH1's 100 Greatest Women in Music

This week VH1 is doing a countdown of the "100 greatest women in music", and PJ was on it tonight. She ranked #79 (almost insultingly low on the list in my opinion), but it's still exciting to see her on there. I screamed a little.

I can't find a clip of her segment anywhere so far, but for those who haven't seen it, they've been re-airing the previous episodes each night before they air the new one (so it should be on again each night for the rest of the week, at least).

Here's the top 5:

05. Adele
04. Lady Gaga
03. Beyoncé
02. Mariah Carey
01. Madonna

Ke$ha was #57. Let me repeat that again. KE$HA.
Katy Perry #17.

Insulting is right.

Yeah..... Obvious popularity contest with no substance. I won't be tuning in to see this.

Too bad VH1 ran out of "I Love the 80's" stuff, huh?

I guess it's supposed to be greatest of the past 20 years, not of all time. I suppose you could argue that although her career is relatively short so far, people (does she even count as a person?) like Ke$ha have made somewhat of an impact on music, since they've acquired big and loyal fanbases, become well-known names in pop music, etc.

I think they got some people right (PJ, Tori Amos, Björk, Fiona Apple, Annie Lennox, Shirley Manson, Kim Gordon, Kim Deal - all favorites of mine), but to rank people like Ke$ha higher on the list, essentially saying that they've had a bigger impact on music, is a load of crap.

Having said all that, it's still nice just to see PJ on TV and to see her get some recognition, even if it's in a silly list made up of 75% mindless garbage. I suppose it shows that even though they don't really talk about people like her, they know she's there and they know she's brilliant.

that is too low. they don't respect her or don't know anything about her.but is somehow nice she is so great but not extremely popular, she is for people who wan't to know her and doesn't sell herself for mass popularity like gaga or kesha.

Just caught a replay of her episode. Commentary from Regina Spektor, Ben Folds, a couple of critics, and a comedian who talked about losing his virginity to Down By The Water.
Obviously her ranking and the list in general is ridiculous, but it's always nice to see Polly.

These list shows are usually pretty lame (albeit somewhat amusing). I'm surprised she was even on it at all.
