You're right.. I also have the B&W pics but did not relate.
So she did perform with this denim purse... interesting. What could have been in it btw?

^ The receiver for the in-ear monitors she sometimes uses. You can see the wires coming from the "purse".
The monitor engineer has a transmitter that sends a signal to a tiny receiver in a bag or a purse that she carries. Interestingly, this signal can be picked up by a scanner receiver in the audience. It's not hard to find the frequency of the signal with the scanner. A couple of the bootlegs last year utilized it. One taper even mixed the monitor signal with his own mic mix. The problem is the signal is pretty weak so if you're not very close to the stage you'll get very noticeable FM quieting noise (as was evident last year).

Well observed

I didn't know that bootlegs had used this signal... I gotta get one of those.

Either of these icom scanner receivers should work:
http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/ ... /5007.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/ ... /1006.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The taper of PJ & JP's 2009-04-20 SBE show used an icom ic-r5, the predecessor of the ic-r6 for 1 of his 2 sources. The taper of the 2009-06-20 Wiltern show used the IEM as his only source and the recording has so much hiss it's almost unlistenable. I suspect the problem was he wasn't close enough to the stage.
The frequency of the IEM transmitter can be anywhere from 500 to 650 MHz. The scanner can find it if you give it a range of frequencies to search.
Here's the complete scoop on in-ear monitors:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In-ear_monitor" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The signal can be weak because it only has to be strong enough to reach from the monitor engineer's desk at the side of the stage to the performer at the center of the stage. That's typically less than 50 feet.

I meant that I had to get one of those bootlges, not receivers.. not sure that was clear given your answer...
Anyway that's interesting information. I remember reading an article on a specialized site for this kind of technical music gear where Polly said that the IEM had saved her hearing.

It's ok I just tripped over some stuff my cats had moved around at night & hit my face on the floor pretty bad. It's getting better quickly, I have pain meds the dr gave me so, it's doing very well thanks.
Yeah I wonder who has those negatives it has the orange dress so they'd be rare.

Also the monitor foldback to each member on stage would be mixed to what they need to hear & not necessarily what would sound good overall - not the best way to grab stuff i'd say?
