I'm thinking that I'm utterly stunned. Barack Obama has just won the Nobel Peace Prize.

I just saw that as I was checking my email and first thought was, "what the hell?" followed by "take that bush!"
I didn't read the article, so before I continue on with my stupidity, I better go read and find out why...

EDIT:
OSLO — President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to build momentum behind his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

Hmm, so he won it for something he hasn't exactly accomplished yet. I understand the message they are trying to send, but c'mon.
It's been a rather underwhelming presidency so far..../cynical.

It really annoys me when a client walks into my office, clearly sees that I'm eating my lunch and has the audacity to still ask me if I'm at lunch break because they just
have to interrupt me to ask a stupid question that can fucking wait.
I swear, one of these days I'm going to post a sign on my door that says "FUCK YOU, I'M EATING!!!"

I'm laboring under the theory that the Obama presidency has been underwhelming because he has so much to do, and much of it won't happen overnight. If I considered only one issue, I would have lost patience long ago, but if I consider the tremendous amount of damage control and clean-up he has to do, I feel a little better.
You can send your annoying clients to me, I'll take anything right now. Many of my clients are struggling to stay in business themselves.
I think I've only dropped 2 clients in the last 10 years or so, one of them called me about 10 days ago.
In tears. In the evening.

(my favorite emoticon too!)
So I was very patient, and it was the same hyperbolic stuff that I got so tired of before - "It's not perfect and I've tried so hard and I told Mary to make that paragraph GRAY and it's BLAAAACK not GRAAAAAAY!!! AHHHHHH..." And so on, with things equally unimportant.
This is the shade of gray she wanted. So, I helped her out, and she offered to pay and I know she doesn't have enough money to waste my time the way she does so I settled for about $20 and then -
I made her an offer since I don't have much else to do. Set aside some money, any amount, and I'll upgrade her site this month. Her answer was that she already has a web designer but she was just sick. Right. SO YOUR GRAY WAS SO IMPORTANT YOU HAVE TO WASTE MY TIME TO SAVE YOURSELF A WEEK OR MAYBE JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS.
Lame. *sigh*

^Oh god. Stuff like that gives me a headache. Especially when you are doing it as a favor! It's like they think we are just sitting around, doing nothing but twiddling our thumbs waiting for them to give us work!
And are you SURE you want my annoying clients? You positive? Cuz MAN! I swear. I dunno why or how these people cannot understand simple, basic things. They are in the business after all!
For example: I place a note on all my email proofs stating : "Please note, layout is NOT 100% to scale. Exact dimensions are given."
*cue 5 minutes. Customer calls. "Hi, I got your proof, but it looks soo small. Will it be that tiny on the final print?"
Me:

but with a calmed, cooled, collected tone: "No, as noted on all my emails, blah blah blah."
Customer: "I understand that, I'm just worried it will be TOO small"
Me: "Exact dimensions are noted on the proof.
Customer: "Oh, I see! ok, then I approve."
asdflksadkjfg'alskdjfaskjf'laksdfj!!!!!
This same exact exchange happens EVERY OTHER DAY. I swear to god, I will go postal very soon.

You know, I'm kind of used to it. It's annoying, but it only really bothers me when I know the client is on a tight budget but gets hung up on minor details. Does that shade of gray actually make it look THAT much more professional? I spend hours tweaking things and then I feel guilty billing them. That's the primary reason I dropped her.
Another pet peeve, one that I go through about every third job and is similar to you scaling issue, is when I ask a client to proof read text and sign off on on everything before I put in the real work, and then when it's done -
They don't like anything about it. "I just realized the text is all wrong and it's too small!" as;ldfasakj!! Their web site has been sitting on my computer for two months, unlaunched, because, well basically, they don't know what they want.
Work issues go on and on and on...

We have a typhoon! Well, it was in Japan or somewhere, it's not so violent now. Still, it's kind of raining sideways.

5 inches of rain and counting. The thing is, it's probably not enough to get us out of drought. I love it when it's raining and we're on water restrictions! There's been landslides and lots of trees blown over. Not near us though.

And its like summer out again. It's like 81 degrees
I'm going in for my third tattoo session after work. I'm really not looking forward to it. Hopefully its my final one.
