A little background, Hope Six Demolition Project is the name of a government program with the aim of revitalizing low income neighborhoods. Ward 7 is a section of D.C, and the one sit down restaurant is a Denny's. An attempt to open up a high end steakhouse in the area in 2010 failed. South Capitol Street is a well known area of murder. Over 8 days in spring 2010, 5 people under 21 were killed. As for the shit hole school- it could be a number of them- the schools have the highest dropout rate in the nation, the lower sat scores, and are rated the least safe school in the U.S.A. "They're gonna build a wal-mart here" is referring to the failed deal between D.C and Walmart to allow Walmart to open centers in D.C and in return WM had to open two centers in low income neighborhoods.
