Yesterday watched "The Hours". Funny thing that for whole movie I was wondering where the hell is Nicole Kidman (and yeah, she played one of the leading roles :P ) xD And movie was pretty amazing. Beautifully made. And it kept me worried till the end and left me troubled after all.

^^ I used to fall asleep to that soundtrack all the time when that movie came out. It's so lovely in a really depressing way, haha. One of my favorite films though

I watched Monsters Inc. again (and may I add, for the second time!!) It's just so damn adorable, funny and a great freakin' movie all around. A definite favorite.

I've just tried to go through the exhausting experience that is watching "the book of life", for the second time now. the first (failed) attempt of mine was over a year ago and I didn't have better luck this time. could it be that it's just awful? I rely heavily on Wikipedia regarding pretty much everything, and from what I read there about Hal Hartley he's supposed to be a very accomplished filmmaker. maybe I just don't get it. does anyone around here like it?

^ I've always loved it and have watched it many many times. First time I saw it I watched it twice back to back. Is it the camera work thats turning you off?

It's only 63 mins so if you've shut it down twice it's probably not going to work out the third time

Well now you see, you've made me re-think the whole thing once more. The camera work does turn me off, but it's not just it; if it's supposed to be a comedy, then I didn't get the joke, and if it's serious then it's a disaster. I guess the two most important things for me in a film (am i copying Laura Linney's answer from the actors' studio?) are: a good script and good acting. I can't see none of that in it (in my completely unbiased opinion Polly's actually good but her lines are so ridiculous). I'll probably just stick with Woody Allen.

Humour is a funny thing (pun intended) Everyone has different tastes. I found it rather humorous and Hartley intended it to be I think. On the other hand I don't think thats all he intended to be.
Cheesy acting? wouldn't have been the same any other way (it's an art form). I think you'll find the people that like it REALLY like it and the people that don't REALLY don't. Not everyone goes for this kind of thing and you can't be expected to like it just because Polly's in it.

Yojiro Takita's Departures , such a touching and beautiful movie. the encoffining ritual performed like a tea ceremony, precise and flowing, and the rest of the film very gentle and poignant

Finally got to check out "Män som hatar kvinnor" aka "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
It's long but has no problem holding your interest. Well worth checking out. Noomi Rapace was fantastic.

All 3 films are online btw. Ahem. (though the second one has really hilariously bad subtitles, but it's still easy to follow)

I actually preferred the second and LOVED how it all came together in the final film. I found the latter two films more engaging. The first one, while too long(could of used some editing) felt a bit rushed to me if that makes sense. Noomi Rapace IS indeed amazing. I cannot believe they are remaking it already for american audiences


Haven't seen it yet, but I cannot wait for Toy Story 3 !!! Gonna see it Friday afternoon

Watched Let The Right One In the other day and HOLY SHIT I am in love with it. So much to the point that after I finished it, I immediately watched it again. Daaaaaaaamn I need to buy it. I think I'll go watch it again right now.

I may or may not be obsessing over it already. And I'm not into this whole "I heart vampires" craze, I've always found them neat. Again, this movie was awesome.

Oh and I saw Afterwards and it was mega lame; only wanted to see it because of Evangeline Lilly.

(Netflix is magic.)

Edit: Just remembered I watched Dead Alive not completely sober and it was uh, interesting. Isn't that supposedly the bloodiest movie ever made? It was ridiculous, yet completely entertaining. And I just finished Heavenly Creatures. Peter Jackson wooo

Looking forward to the next two (I had green subs in the first one , translation seemed okay other than the occasional word and some funky grammer)
I didn't know Hollywood was onto it already, shame on them (again)
