Dear Darkness, one of my favourites from WC. Wish I could have been there..

A very nice review, the reviewer really seems to have been impressed by Polly & Co.

Here's another (favourable) review of the Apollo gig:

That setlist omits The Devil, which was performed prior to Dear Darkness if my memory serves me right.

A sombrely beautiful concert.

I love how White Chalk has "taken over" this tour.

haha a bit of exaggeration there but i know what mean - & on the whole they do suit the "make over" they've had to be played by the band instead of solo

but (& it's hurts saying this) but i'm not over-keen on the autoharp version of my favourite "C'Mon Billy"

all else is gooood

The Devil is a great song; arguably my favourite on White Chalk although Dear Darkness and Silence are not far behind.

Looking forward to hearing them at RAH (Sunday)

Hey there. This is my first post, despite lurking for ages here and on other incarnations of the forum.

I was at Manchester and it was a really enjoyable show :) I got right up to the front (the closest I've ever been to PJ at a gig) and it was just fantastic. For the majority of the songs she was stood still but there were a couple she danced a little bit during which was quite cute.

Compared to the Troxy shows in February, the songs sound like they've evolved a little; they seemed heavier, but I don't know if that was just due to the sound.

The only thing that marred the show ever so slightly was some fool who shouted "acknowledge your audience" before The Colour of the Earth. I think they heard on the stage as one of the guys (Butty I think) made a barely audible grunt into the microphone, and PJ looked a little upset (although Colour of the Earth isn't the happiest song, so I doubt she'd have been grinning anyway) but after the song whilst taking applause she was smiling, and returned for the encore.

But it was a fantastic show, and I'm still listening to LES frequently, so I was glad to have to the opportunity to attend a second show 6 months later after I'd absorbed the song a bit more. Outstanding :)

Welcome aboard Scottish Mike!

Is the setlist in the article I linked in the top post accurate, or is it missing The Devil?

It is missing The Devil. She played it before Dear Darkness.

I was there! It was my first successful PJ gig but I almost didn't make it again! I had a bit of a rubbish view (I had standing tickets but there was an incredibly tall man in front of me who pushed in!) but it didn't really matter. I thought i'd be a bit tearful when I saw her 'in the flesh' so to speak for the first time *cringe* but I just spent the whole time grinning like an idiot. :D
