Er, No I Didn't. For your information I've read/watched interviews, books, seen TV segments etc. where its been stated. If you do a proper search, you'll find that lots of bands are fans of various musicians. But yeah, she does seem to have quite the fanbase.

Indeed! Liam made some really stupid comment about her weight in the mid 90's and Noel (when refering to the brit awards) said that he was so higher above everyone else's level, that 'people like PJ Harvey and Bjork have never done anything worth while' ; they don't deserve to be graced by his presence... :eyeroll:

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Talk:Noel_Gallagher If anyone feels like a bit of a laugh!

Concerning Diamanda Galas in that list, I'm not sure she's a fan. Proof here: http://bunnyrabble.wordpress.com/2009/0 ... nda-galas/
"Galas’ association with the avant-garde scene has meant she has become a touchstone for independent artists too. PJ Harvey spoke in 1993 of her admiration for Galas, attracting comparison for her own theatrics on 1995′s To Bring You My Love. Long after Harvey has abandoned her efforts at coloratura, Galas’ eyes still narrow at the impudence of the compliment.

“There were friends of mine, drag queens, calling me saying ‘there’s somebody who’s dressing like you, wearing your hair, studying your vocals, wearing your makeup.’ At first I said ‘I don’t want to know, I’m working,” Galas bites off peremptorily. “But then I went to one of her concerts. And I’m telling you, if you’re gonna do me in drag? You’d better be taller than me. And tougher than me. And you’d better be a man,” she growls."

Anyway, Galas hates many people who admire her like Mike Patton, Yoko Ono, and maybe even Jarboe...

Hahaha. Forgive me for this error. I just put two and two together here I'm afraid (her being at the academy show in '95).

Thankyou, Polly_Jean_Cave.

Impressive list - a lot of great musicians.

I would add Laura-Mary Carter and Steve Ansell of Blood Red Shoes; they are huge fans. Laura-Mary has mentioned Polly quite a few times when discussing influences and favourites. Steve has picked 'Rid of Me' for one of two albums he would like to have on a desert island.

And I found an interview in which Colette Thurlow (ex-The Vulgarians), of 2:54, cites Polly as a favourite. She uses just her first name but I can't think of any other Pollys!

Regarding ones on your list:

Funnily enough, just a few days ago, Nicky Wire was on NME TV presenting videos of his favourite artists; he introduced 'Good Fortune' and said he loved her boots! :-)

Also, I'll never forget Alison Moyet complimenting Polly in an interview (in The Independent newspaper, I think). It was at the time 'White Chalk' hadn't been out long and she said she was playing it non-stop and that it made her cry.

And here is a very old clip - Graham Coxon likes winding Damon up:
