I thought I'd collect all the tidbits about the new album (which is probably coming out in 2020) in one thread. Here's what I was able to gather, nothing revealing, but if there are any additions, please do share!

Quote:
"I've demoed my own next record," she tells Spinner. "I'll hopefully be recording that in the spring of next year." While Harvey was mum on specifics, she did say that she plans to ask frequent collaborators Flood and Mick Harvey, along with Parish, to produce. Harvey also promises that the new material pushes her once again into unexplored territory.
"All I can say is that I am pleased with it, because I feel it's a grand departure from anything before," she says. "If I've done that, then for me, it's worked. I'm already feeling like I did, and I'm happy. I'm very pleased because I'm not repeating myself."

Harvey has already started writing her next solo album and has asked Mick Harvey, Parish and Flood to produce it. I suggest her fans might be curious about its direction. "So am I!" she says, with a laugh."

“I’d also like to play the bagpipes ’cos they’re so ... oooh... punk rock. Jumping on an instrument I’m not familiar with is very helpful in getting new ideas.”

I've recorded a couple of songs. I'm gonna be playing a considerable amount of guitar, but I also want to use new instruments, a saxophone and a strange water harp.

And the next PJ Harvey record?
PJH: “It’s written. I hope John’ll be co-producing it with Flood, again, and Mick Harvey this time.

Quote:
Pitchfork: Do you have any ideas then for what you'd like to do next or are you just not worried about that at all?
PJH: I do for my next solo work, yeah. I know what I want to do and I pretty much want John to be co-producing with Flood and I really enjoy working with them as a team. And also Mick Harvey I think would be a good part of the combination for the songs that I've written. John is the only one who has heard the songs so far, but they're all written. We decided, as it's such a long way in the distance we're not listening to them at all at the moment, just concentrating on this album.

Two of Polly's new songs, for her next album, have already been recorded (fully recorded in studio, that is), John Parish producing.

Polly's working on material that I'll be producing in the New Year but that's a little way off yet. For right now, we're concentrating on touring.

Polly and I have started talking about the next PJ Harvey record which we’ll be making next year, which I’ll be involved in as a producer.

I hope that was a typo.

Great idea, and thanks for collecting this together, hopefully we get more news soon. Sooner than 2015 anyway...

And you put a little heart in the list of threads - cool!

Shadowboxer is confusing Polly with Fiona.

1. I'm really excited about PJ's new album. The only way in which she ever repeats herself is by NOT repeating herself.
2. I miss Fionita too :(

I'm just sayin that if she ever says again "I don't want to repeat myself" I'm gonna hang myself

XD

Saying those kind of things make her look like she's actually repeating herself XD

Greetings All,

1)I agree she does say it ALL THE TIME.

2) There is no way she doesn't repeat herself. There are only a small number of musical notes to use.

3) The idea that you use an instrument you can barely play (piano) is not cool.

How is that true when it resulted in one of her finest, if not her finest, album? HMMM! Riddle me that, skittle.
