In Germany (where the albums was released on 11 Feb) the sales figures aren't that enormous so far. The CD is in the Amazon sales top 100 for 13 days now, at position 85 at the moment. The Vinyl is doing quite well, being in the top 10 Vinyl sales.

In the iTunes charts it started at about 20-30 and is now at 85.

I guess the problem is that there is hardly any promotion here and on German television there aren't any real music channels anymore (the only show reality shows and things like that). There is almost no chance to ever see the "The Words That Maketh Murder" video on TV or hear the single on the radio. However, there have already been extremely positive reviews in online magazines and newspapers and after the Berlin shows there will probably be some more, so we'll see.

Let England Shake is new at UK #8, her second Top 10 album and first for 18 years, since Rid of Me reached UK #3. Great news!

I'm so happy for her! Especially since all the artists above her had huge exposure on the radio and in the media.

Here's where I found her on the euro iTunes charts:

Also, Adele is slaying! So happy for her too.

It's the album plus "Nightingale" bonus track plus "The Last Living Rose" and "The Words That Maketh Murder" videos.

Really great to see those high positions on iTunes everywhere. I wish it would sell better here :???:. I should start a flashmob or something, like it is ongoing with the first Depeche Mode single, which some fans are trying (successfully so) to get into the charts again 30 years after its first release.

People should check out the alternative top 10 charts on Itunes. very impressive especially with the Grammys and the Brit awards being celebrated during last week.

"Let England Shake" entered on position no. 20 in the German album charts. Not too bad, I would say :). I'm actually positively surprised about this position, as the online and download sales haven't been that high so far. I guess this is the kind of music that people rather buy in record stores in person as part of celebrating the release instead of ordering or downloading online. And the album is rather expensive (15-19€ depending on the edition) and in Germany the charts are calculated in a way that it involves whole sales volume rather than sales numbers. So more expensive albums or deluxe editions need fewer sales to enter the charts at the same position.

For anyone who is curious, I bought both digipak versions — the US one on Vagrant Records, and the "limited edition" UK one on Island. The only differences other than the respective logos and catalogue numbers are:
1) the paper used to make the booklet is thicker on the US version
2) the booklet is housed in the middle panel on the US version (under the thank yous); it's housed in the far left panel (under the photo of the hill and the "all songs written by PJ Harvey") on the UK version
3) the photo of PJ on the back of the US version seems to have had the contrast slightly enhanced; same for the cover

Other than that, they're identical as far as I can tell.
