Excellent, thank you for posting this as it would have been easy to miss. 'Interviews 1991-2016' is presumably a bit of journalistic licence unless you count two sentences exchanged with Andrew Marr ...

Wow, interesting.

Kind of curious what the editorial discussion was like in regards to what photo they chose for this cover. Or if there even was much of a discussion about it. Choosing something from her earliest days, like they've done here vs. using a much more current picture.

I suppose since we're dealing with history, therefore looking back, a picture of a young Polly seemed fitting.

If anybody has the chance to browse it, can you confirm if besides the updates the rest of the archive material is the same from 2016? Thank you so much.

^ Yes, it's essentially the same as 2016 edition with the addition of the 11 pages from Nov of 2020 and 4 pages of new material by Stephen Trousse on the demos, up through White Chalk. Here's a bit of his review on White Chalk:

"But - trigger warning - the demos are the pure, uncut trauma: just Polly in a Dorset room with a plinky-plonky old upright piano, as though on an ectoplasmic seance recording from the the 19th century. If you're feeling robust enough to endure it all, it's an incredible piece of work, and of all the demo discs released so far, demands to be heard in its own right".

On Silence: "...It is, in truth, almost unendurable if it weren't so bitterly compelling.".

There's more. He goes on about The Mountain's coda "...she just wails...sounds utterly wretched, the inconsolable wordless abjection that lies just under the surface of the whole record. It's the kind of shock that you don't expect from an artist seven records into a matchless career".

It's a damn good piece of writing by Trousse.

I have not listened to any of the WC demos yet. After reading that piece, I'm not sure I'm ready for To Talk to You or Before Departure...

His ranking of the demos:
Dry - Demos: ****
4-Track Demos: ****
To Bring You My Love Demos: ***
Is This Desire Demos: ****
Stories Demos: ***
Uh Huh Her Demos: ***
White Chalk Demos: *****

I think White Chalk is my favourite 'Demos' record yet.

TBYML was probably leading the way in my book, but this is better for me.
