I really like the story behind Dry's cover. It's funny picturing Maria and PJ walking into a store asking if they could photocopy her mouth, and then getting denied.
Rid Of Me's cover is quite powerful too. I love the random plant in Maria's bathroom.
TBYML is my personal favorite - I find it quite dreamy.

Do you have a favorite and why?

All of them are beautifully done, but personally I'm on the fence between "White Chalk" and "Is This Desire?" - haven't decided yet.

I tried to remember which attracted me most before I knew what they contained.
I voted for Polly's lips on the copy machine. Rid of Me is a close second.
The back of 4-Track Demos should have been the front!

I think I'll give Stories the slight edge over Is This Desire? even though Is This Desire? is my favorite album of hers.

I'll say it's a tie between stories and rid of me. I like all of them though.

PJ HARVEY
Tate Projection

THIS IS ONE OF THE IMAGES PROJECTED ONTO THE WALLS OF THE TURBINE HALL IN THE TATE MODERN WHEN PJHARVEY 3 PIECE PLAYED THERE (SEPT 1ST 2003).IT WAS TAKEN IN POLLY'S FRONT ROOM IN DORSET IN SUMMER 2000.WHEN WE WERE DOING PHOTOS FOR THE 'STORIES...'ALBUM ,ITS A SLIGHT LONG EXPOSURE USING AMBIENT LIGHT. FOR A WHILE THIS WAS OUR PROPOSED COVER FOR THE 'STORIES...'ALBUM BUT POLLYS MANAGEMENT WERENT OVERJOYED & WE GOT PERSUADED TO DO ANOTHER SHOOT THIS TIME IN NEW YORK,A MUCH BIGGER AFFAIR -WE ENDED UP CHOOSING A PHOTO FROM THE NEW YORK SESSION AS THE COVER FOR THAT ALBUM,BUT BOTH OF US QUITE QUICKLY REGRETTED IT - WHEN I LOOK AT THE 'STORIES...'COVER NOW ITS A BIT AS ONE FRIEND PUT IT "A BIT POSH SPICE OUT SHOPPING SOMEWHERE".

I do agree with their Posh spice comparison but it fits the album theme and sound better than what they pitched as the cover.

Rid of Me, hands down. Most of them are great but that one is iconic. I remember seeing it as a child/teenager long before I heard a note of her music and being scared away !

it scared me too
I vote for 4-Track Demos, I love her face and brave pose and the colors
not listed but i adore A Woman A Man Walked By cover and inside cover

Is there a story behind the Uh Huh Her cover? Who is the guy?
