How do y'all think the versions of RA compare. Ive honestly deleted the studio version from my computer and will only listen to the live version. It makes me sad. But I do like every other song. On the flip side I like Dollar Dollar a whole lot more on the album. Like her voice more on the live Wheel too.

I think almost all the songs sound better on the album. I do like the longer sample in Ministry live and her angrier 'that's what they want money honey's - definitely miss the sax on that one though. I hate how the male vocal says "dalla" in the live version instead of "dolla". Community of Hope is really fun live, I love the maracas. River Anacostia live is really good. When the "A small red sun makes way for night" part kicks in on the album version I think it sounds a little annoying but then it gets better. The live version has a smoother transition at that part. Still think studio sounds great though, I would never delete it.

I Love studio version, with all the instruments and sound and voices, it feel crowded and rich.
Live is good, three piece band can't make it all and I found it a little darker than the album project. Looking forward to the full band live set

Just posted this in the tour section, but wanted to post here as well since I for one don't check the other sections on here as frequently.

2 US shows (NY/LA) for HSDP Tour!

Hopefully she adds on more next year, might not really have worked with her schedule. One of her musicians said the plan was to tour for a couple of years so it's possible.

So I saw Seamus Murphy last night at my university, talking about a lot of his career and of course his collaboration with PJ Harvey.

Here's some info I remember:

Quote:
- He got demos for Let England Shake two years before the album was released.
- She doesn't interfere with his work at all. She lets him go off and do his own thing.
- A lot of the footage for the Hope Six songs is from his previous work.
- They are releasing one more video, for The Orange Monkey.
- They were having legal issues with the video. Polly's management were scared a man in the video might sue them but they've sorted it out now.
- I asked a question! Basically about the legal wranglings, but then I asked to see the video.. and he happily played it! It's seemed as though all the footage was from Afghanistan - I remember a tank, American soldiers, and some fish!
- I also commented on how I loved the gospel choir in The Community of Hope video, which he seemed pleased with.
- I was the only one who asked about his work, others asked about what camera he used, not what he took with the cameras.
- He then asked whether I'd seen the controversy surround the Community of Hope song, obviously I said I had! He then went on to pretty much say the whole thing is bollocks (I am paraphrasing) and they decided the best thing to do would be to ignore it.

If I remember anything else, or if you have any questions, please ask!
