Today's photo - Maggi Hambling and PJ Harvey:

Image

"PJ Harvey was an unexpected guest at Maggi Hambling's private view of War Requiem & Aftermath at the Cultural Institute at King's College London. The pair had hit it off after meeting at Somerset House last month and, with the promise of plenty of wine and a whole load of abstract art, PJ Harvey couldn't say no."

Also, repeat from the "Recording" thread, but that's a "long-term" news:

"The Jaipur Literature Festival just got done for 2015, and there are already at least thirty-three confirmed speakers slated to appear next year,
including musicians Patti Smith and PJ Harvey <...>"

http://scroll.in/article/703567

It will take place between January 21 and 25.

On April 8th Polly will do some poetry reading in New York to celebrate Sue Webster's "The Folly Acres Cook Book" (again): http://www.theprintuplist.com/2015/03/4815-join-suewebster-and.html.

Here's a little video from December 4th: https://instagram.com/p/wMno_9C_M1/.

And here's the full text of Polly's poem from this book (if someone haven't read it yet):

Spoiler! :
FOLLY ACRES
by PJ Harvey

Alone, bereft of love or good
I stumbled through a brain of woods
until I found a wooden shack
wasps at the front, bees at the back

A girl appeared with jet black hair,
Her cats patrolled. One humped a chair.
She gave me soup, she gave me bread,
she took me to "The Evil Shed"

where tiny bodies hung on nails
and proudly wore their own entrails.
Beside a meadow's insect hum
all life, all death rolled into one.

The wraith-like girl pulled chives and beets
and gathered eggs to make a feast
and goodness filled me as I ate.
She brought me love upon a plate.

P.S.: "and goodness filled me as I ate" - maybe she should eat more? )))

A friend in New York went to the Sue Webster's "The Folly Acres Cook Book" event and said Polly read her poem then played C'mon Billy, Dress and April ...... apparently it was "outstanding".

Is that a Gillian Anderson in the bottom right corner? And is that Polly a little above and to the left?

Whoa, that does look like Gillian.... I attended this event and I must have been in some kind of trance because I didn't notice her. Didn't end up taking any pics or vids or anything because I just want it to exist simply in my mind.

This was a lovely book launch! It wasn't jam-packed as I thought it would be. I definitely prefer "April" in its stripped-down acoustic version.

Was it a free entrance? And did she said something between her poem and the set?
