Dear lord, it's almost a year from now! But when she added a new verse to "The Guest Room" I knew that she's still working on it. She IS a perfectionist after all. ))) Hope I'll be able to purchase a signed copy. |

For those who doesn't speak natively on English, just like myself: "in the hollow of someone's hand" means "entirely in someone's power". So, as I get it, the title is about what a difference in the world could be made by a single person. |

I can't help but think that this (along with Peaky Blinders) is pretty good evidence that Polly's days as a touring musician may be over ![]() |

She's stated in interviews that she HATES the grind of multi-city touring and being asked the same interview questions over and over again. |

That's why she has a few-years-breaks after tours, but what exactly about "Peaky Blinders" and the book makes you think so? I thought what since she just loves to do something new, so maybe if they gonna spend the second half of the next year on tour, she could read some of her poetry in-between the songs, simultaneously promoting the book. |

So, as I get it, the title is about what a difference in the world could be made by a single person. While I also found that reference in the online Oxford dictionary, in my opinion (as a native English speaker) the phrase is more closely associated with the memorable verse from Isaiah 40:12: http://biblehub.com/isaiah/40-12.htm "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand," |

Quote: Between 2011 and 2014 PJ Harvey and Seamus Murphy set out on a series of journeys together to Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Washington, D.C.. Harvey collected words, Murphy collected pictures, and together they created an extraordinary chronicle of our life and times. The Hollow of the Hand marks the first publication of Harvey's powerful poetry, in conversation with Murphy's indelible images. It is a landmark project and will be published internationally in autumn 2015. As PJ Harvey says: 'Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with. Following our work on Let England Shake, my friend Seamus Murphy and I agreed to grow a project together lead by our instincts on where we should go.' Seamus Murphy adds: 'Polly is a writer who loves images and I am a photographer who loves words. Our relationship began a few years ago when she asked me if I would like to take some photographs and make some films for her last album Let England Shake. I was intrigued and the adventure began, now finding another form in this book. It is our look at home and the world.' The Hollow of the Hand will be available in two formats: a hardback edition with highest quality photographic reproductions, as well as a reader's paperback version. A limited number of signed special editions will be also available. WOW!!! finally ![]() A limited number of signed special editions will be also available http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hollow-Hand-PJ- ... f+the+Hand |

Delighted to see this, despite the ludicrously long teaser time until publication! I like her comments that she needed first hand experiences to inform her work - this will be interesting. Those limited edition signed copies are going to be very sought after on this site, aren't they? ![]() Guardian article today: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/d ... f-the-hand |
