This is ultra anecdotic and more a sample than a cover (couldn't find a "they mentioned PJ" kinda thread on the forum, apologies if I missed it) In 2001 a PC video game inspired by The Fifth Element movie (1997) named New York Race came out, the game soundtrack is quite cool, drum'n'bass/alternative 90's oriented, it seems that they sampled the intro of Kamikaze (also later used by Polly on the demo of "Shame") which had just came out a few months prior on Stories, it's here at 2:00: https://youtu.be/-47dJ78zzz0?si=qxVEZwDM2dGT3cFY&t=120 Unless it's something that Polly sampled herself from elsewhere ? If so I'd love to know But that OST has many samples, I spotted one from "In Your Face" by 808 State around minute 20 I think, also reminded me that Tricky played a small part in the film (Zorg's subordinate) aah the 90's... |

While I think it’s possible they sampled it directly from Stories, I guess it might be just the drum pattern on Polly’s sequencer that she used to demo both “Kamikaze” and “Shame”, that other artist might have used as well. |
