I went to a 'talk' about Dorian Lynskey's book on protest songs, '33 Revolutions Per Minute', today. Billy Bragg shared the stage with Lynskey; right at the end, when answering the last question of the Q&A session, Billy said 'Let England Shake' is brilliant. He commented on her Radio 4 interview where she didn't commit herself to discussing politics in more detail, preferring listeners to interpret the lyrics in their own personal way; he wished she was more direct but respected her decision not to. |

I remember Billy saying the album was powerful and he mentioned that it was about the First World War and Afghanistan. A good bit of promotion for Polly's album. Audio of a short interview with Dorian Lynskey and Billy Bragg. Interviewed by Tom Sloan for Brighton Festival Radio...Billy gives Polly another name check just before 3 minutes: http://soundcloud.com/tom-sloan/words-w ... -bragg-and |
