What a great read! I like that it is thorough, with research evidenced, and, while clearly from a fan, not sycophantic.

And I learned much to inform future listens.

This looks very interesting, thank you! I'm printing a hard copy just now (my preferred way of reading) and very much looking forward to it.

Thank you for sharing.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Eels recently and just clocked John Parish reconnected with Mr E for Eels’ “Extreme Witchcraft” album.

I’ve thought for ages Polly and Mr E could work well together - anyone know if they have, or have even just met?

And if you were suggesting new collaborations for ...

Thanks - I don't remember a Bjork one at all!

I have what I thought was an old memory of seeing a set of Russian nesting dolls of different Polly images, but seem incapable of finding them anywhere.

Am I making this up, or does anyone have a set?

And more importantly, does anyone know where I might get a set?

TheNightingale wrote:Judging from the attendees' pictures on Instagram and Twitter, Polly did sign the books so I assume it's very likely for the upcoming events as well.

Thanks - the message I was hoping to see!

Any indication of whether there will be book signings at these readings?

Thanks, TheNightingale - good analysis re vinyl demand, and intriguing re the LES demos info.

Has anyone got any intel on what's happened to the reissues and demos project? It was running at a real pace for so long, but has been quiet for a good while.

I also wanted to add on this thread that Polly Jean Harvey is fifty-one years old now. She will be fifty-two in October. I think PJ Harvey, the rock star, did what she set out to do as far as performing is concerned. Polly Jean Harvey, the person, will always be creating something even if the whole ...

Doh - just refreshed kontraband site and the new demos vinyl is up, and the signed ones sold out - at 3.13. Have ordered unsigned one, but my hit rate of two has not been great with the signed ones so far!

The music absolutely did not get i the way of the play. Rather, it enhanced some scenes, acted as a bridge between others, and was a critical part of others. The two songs were performed very differently to the recordings. The Gillian A one was played for laughs, and worked. The Lily J one actually ...

I've enjoyed listening to the new music. Yes, not a major album release, but interesting to hear how the two songs have filled out since the demos of the radio programme, and some atmospheric tracks too.

I'm seeing the play tonight, so will experience the music in its intended environment. The ...

There's part of this documentary, or a separate piece, going out on the Today programme as I write ... She's written two songs for the show as well as instrumental compositions.

Radio piece is a preview of the upcoming documentary. Includes Polly talking, explaining there are some new songs ...

I'm going to see this on 13/2 with my wife and a couple of friends. They're all primarily going for the actors.... I'm going primarily for the music!
