The new album Train on the Island is out today, produced by John Parish like the three previous ones. Absolutely love it, perhaps her best yet? She keeps getting better from record to record in my opinion.

Re: Old Interviews
Thank you for sharing, Romario. Every time I think I've seen and read all of the interviews with her, especially from the Stories and Uh Huh Her eras (I became a fan around 2005 so they were recent and widely available online at the time), a new one pops up!

Yeah, you are totally right, also that’s what I meant by saying Partisan is a better fit for her—she’s for sure more at home being labelmates with Geese, Laura Marling, Fontaines D.C. or Beth Orton than Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Oliva Dean or Lola Young (no shade to the pop girls!).

Re: Marc Marot (Island Records/ Blue Mountain Music)
Thanks for sharing. I wonder what prompted her to leave Island after all these years and move to an American indie label instead—I do think that Partisan is a better fit for her in this day and age but given how much shared history she has had with Island, I still found it surprising. I guess even ...

Re: PJ Harvey Questions
I don’t think they ever had a falling out at any point (not that we can ever be sure) – Polly simply took a different direction for a while after To Bring You My Love and Is This Desire? , and John’s style didn’t suit it – and he wasn’t interested in it either. I might be wrong but I think he also ...

Re: Fantasy duets
Yesss, Dean Blunt! I can easily imagine him working with Polly in the style he explored with Elias Rønnenfelt on Lucre, for example.

Re: Fantasy duets
On the possible side, I'd love for her to do anything with Colin Stetson. The combination of his saxophone playing and her singing could make something really interesting in my opinion.

Re: Fantasy duets
Not really a duet idea but I’d love to hear her voice meshing with other female voices. On the past three album she has sung mostly against male backing vocals, but I really love that one little moment during the “In the Dark Places” climax when other women join in.

Isn’t it just bots and AI tools scouring the text here, like everywhere else? There has been almost no posts in the past few months, nothing to suggest it’s actual humans viewing the forum.

Re: "PJ Harvey Curates" [playlists of her favourite songs]
2025 saw the end of the I Inside the Old Year Dying tour in Australia and Japan in March. The two-year tour was such a wonderful experience to have been a part of, and I hugely enjoyed being able bring the music to life in a shared experience.

Re: Is This Desire? research
2008 was my peak teenage Polly fandom era and I remember it being a Huge Deal on livejournals, fan blogs and whatnot that she finally performed "The River" live, so yes, I guess you're right! I think she only did it in Australia with Mick Harvey playing the piano - I went to my first PJH concert a ...

Is This Desire? revisited in Pitchfork’s Sunday Review
As you probably know, each Sunday, as part of their ongoing Sunday Review series, Pitchfork takes an in-depth look at a significant album from the past. Theoretically any record not in their archives is eligible— Is This Desire? was, in fact, reviewed by the nascent version of the website back in ...
